FAQ

How do I sign up for residential garbage service?
Please call our office at (815) 673-1616 for additional information about these services and fees. New customer enrollment is available on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays only. You can also visit our website for additional information.
What should I do if my garbage is not picked up?
Our collection routes begin at 5:30 a.m. To ensure your garbage is picked up, please place it at the curb either the night before (if permitted in your area) or by 5:30 a.m. on your scheduled collection day.

If your garbage was at the curb by 5:30 a.m. and was missed, please call our office at (815) 673-1616 as soon as possible. We will schedule a pickup as soon as we can.

If your garbage was not placed at the curb by 5:30 a.m., we may still be able to schedule a pickup, but it will depend on route availability.
How many garbage cans can I place out each week?
You may place 2–3 garbage cans at the curb each week. Each garbage can, including its contents, must not weigh more than 50 pounds.

If you place more than 3 garbage cans at the curb, you may be charged an additional fee for excess garbage.

If you regularly need to dispose of more than 3 garbage cans each week, please call our office at (815) 673-1616. We offer an Excess Garbage Service option for an additional quarterly fee and would be happy to provide more information.
What if I have large items that need to be picked up?
If you have large items that need to be picked up, please call our office at (815) 673-1616 to schedule a special pickup.

Additional charges apply for special pickups. The cost will vary depending on the size, weight, and number of items you need collected.
How much does residential garbage service cost?
Residential garbage service rates are billed quarterly on January 1, April 1, July 1, and October 1.

Current rates (effective January 2026):

• In-Town Service: $100.00 per quarter
• Out-of-Town Service: $103.00 per quarter
• In-Town Excess Garbage Service: $120.00 per quarter
• Out-of-Town Excess Garbage Service: $125.00 per quarter

*Prices are subject to change.

We also offer discounts for seniors and veterans, as well as back-door pickup service for customers with qualifying special circumstances.

How can I pay my bill?
You have several convenient options for paying your bill:

Pay online by creating an account through our website. You can make a one-time payment or enroll in AutoPay.
AutoPay can be set up online, over the phone, or in person at our office.
Mail your payment to our office.
Pay in person at our office.

How do I request a dumpster roll-off?
You can request a dumpster roll-off by visiting our website, emailing michaeldisposal68@gmail.com, or calling our office at (815) 673-1616.

If you submit your request by email, please include the following information:

• Name
• Requested delivery date
• Roll-off dumpster size
• Delivery address
• Billing address
• Phone number
• Intended use (for example: home cleanout, roofing, remodeling, etc.)

You may keep the roll-off dumpster for up to 7 days. If you need it longer, there is an additional charge of $20.00 per day for up to 7 additional days. If you need the dumpster beyond that timeframe, please call our office at (815) 673-1616 to discuss your options. If you plan to keep the dumpster longer than the initial 7-day period, please notify us so we can update your agreement.

Please note: Roll-off dumpsters are not automatically picked up. When you are finished with the dumpster, you must call our office to schedule pickup. Your dumpster roll-off time will stop on the day you contact us, and we will arrange the earliest available pickup.
What roll-off dumpster sizes are available?
8-Yard Dumpster
• Dimensions: 6' W × 9.5' L × 4.5' H
• Weight Limit: 1.0 ton

10-Yard Dumpster
• Dimensions: 7'9" W × 9.3' L × 4' H
• Weight Limit: 1.5 tons

15-Yard Dumpster
• Dimensions: 7'4" W × 14' L × 4.5' H
• Weight Limit: 2.0 tons

20-Yard Dumpster
• Dimensions: 7' W × 14' L × 7' H
• Weight Limit: 2.5 tons

25-Yard Dumpster
• Dimensions: 7' W × 15' L × 7' H
• Weight Limit: 3.0 tons

Roofing Dumpster
• 15-Yard Dumpster Only
• Capacity: Approximately 10 squares of 3-tab shingles
• Weight Limit: 1.0 ton

If your dumpster exceeds the included weight limit, additional fees will apply. If you're unsure which size is right for your project, please call our office at (815) 673-1616, and we'll be happy to help you choose the best option.
What items are not allowed in a roll-off dumpster?
The following items are not permitted in our roll-off dumpsters:

• Concrete
• Brick
• Dirt
• Sand
• Gravel
• Ash from burn piles
• Tires
• Batteries
• Chemicals
• Paint and paint-related products
• Large appliances (including refrigerators, washers, dryers, freezers, and stoves)
• Electronic waste (including computers, printers, televisions, monitors, and similar electronics)
• Yard waste
• Hazardous waste (including motor oil, gasoline, antifreeze, paint thinners, and turpentine)
• Mattresses of any size

Important: Landfill regulations prohibit these materials from being disposed of in roll-off dumpsters. Every load is inspected by the landfill, and prohibited items will be identified even if they are covered or buried. If prohibited materials are found, the landfill will assess a fine to Michael Disposal Inc., and those charges will be passed on to the customer.
